The South Haven Centre for Remembrance is a non-denominational cemetery services building designed for the City of Edmonton. It sits within the South Haven Cemetery and serves as a place for reflection, remembrance, and cemetery operations, combining public spaces (like meeting rooms and family areas) with administrative and service functions. A defining architectural feature is a symbolic 13-metre-tall tower that rises from the prairie landscape, acting as a visual landmark and evoking the cemetery’s monuments and the passage of time through light and shadow. The design emphasizes the interplay of natural light, materials, and the surrounding landscape to create a contemplative atmosphere without religious imagery, honoring memory and ritual in a universal way.
